When was the complex built?
- Steel Heddle of Philadelphia first opened a textile equipment factory in Greenville in 1923. The Steel Heddle’s first production facility in Greenville was on McBee Avenue in downtown Greenville. As the company grew, it needed more space and in 1941 began acquiring land on Rutherford Road in the heart of the the site of World War I training site Camp Sevier which was established in 1917. For expansion Steel Heddle of Philadelphia purchased our Steel Heddle parcel in 1941. Significant expansions and renovations have taken place between the 1980s and 2015. Today the property represents rich deep-rooted history in a modern era of Greenville.
